I was talking to my sister last night about how my stylist has totally disappeared. Well not completely we tried to exchange service and it went all wrong, but that’s an entirely different blog for another day. The bottom line is that now I am without a stylist..again. As our conversation progressed we realized you really need to have at least two stylist that you trust in your hair. It never occurred to me before, and I’m sure some of you reading this is like well duh. Never the less now I know. So here is what we came up with about why you should have at least two stylist.

1. Variety – Unfortunately all stylist cannot do it all. So although you may love your stylist, she may not be able to give you all the hot new looks you want.

2. Healthy Hair – One of your stylist should definitely be on top of keeping your hair healthy.  Even though you want to die your hair 3 different shades of blond, it may not be the best idea. Make sure that you are seeing a stylist this is recommending safe and healthy hair care.

3. Time and Schedules - I know all too well how my stylist would just take weeks off at a time, what am I supposed to do then? Go to my other stylist (notice I did not say backup stylist, you want to make sure you treat your stylist equal)

4. Career Level - One of your stylist ma Make sure you can always afford to get somethine done to your hair. This means making sure you can afford your stylist.y be at a level in their career that demands the high cost for that fresh new do. It’s great to make sure you can not break your budget  trying to get Rihanna’s latest bob.

5. Drama – This is how I learned my lesson. You never know when issues will arise between you and your stylist. Hopefully your stylist is professional enough to not loose you as a client over it. But in the event that you discontinue your relationship with you one of your stylist, you won’t be stuck having to deal with you hair.

There is only one way to arch your eyebrows, so ladies please stay away from the razors and other crazy objects we may feel tempted to use. Getting the perfect arch at home is simple…really.

1. First, brush your eyebrows upward with your eyebrow brush. If you don’t have one use an old toothbrush. Once the hairs are sticking straight up, you’ll be able to see your natural arch line.
2. Using a eyeliner pencil (white is the best) stencil in the shape of the arch you want by tracing along the underside of the brow. The highest point of the line should fall directly above your iris.
3. Next, start to tweeze the hairs that fall below the line you just drew.

That’s it!  A clean-but-natural-looking arch.

REMEMBER: You should NEVER EVER pluck above your brow.  To figure out where your brow should start, hold a pencil vertically at the outside of your nostril.

1. Plan a trip to the spa and undergo a head-to-toe grooming session. This includes getting a mani, pedi, bikini wax (yes ladies it isn’t so bad trust me), leg and underarm shave. Trust me, getting it all done at once will leave you feeling so fresh and new.

I just finished sampling the Soft-Sheen Carsons line Oil Therapy. I must say I was very surprised at the results. I personally used this product on my own at home and couldn’t wait to share my experience. Before we start, just let me tell about my hair. It is very thick, even though it’s relaxed I still have a hard time maintaining it on my own between salon visits. So I was a bit skeptical about this product not having any knowledge of it prior to this review.

I started with the Ultimate Recovery Shampoo; washing my hair as usual using my hands to massage my scalp and get a deep clean. The first thing I noticed is that my hair got softer and didn’t get tangled. My hair felt like I was using a conditioner.

After using the shampoo I used the Ultimate Recover Conditioner. This product really added additional moisture and left my hair feeling very light. I then used the FeatherLight Oil. This product is like using a hot oil treatment that you don’t have to let sit in hot water before you use it. While my hair was still wet I evenly massaged a bit from scalp to tip, and put on a plastic shower cap. This oil treatment has alot of good stuff in it like coconut, olive oil, avocado, and jojoba oils really good stuff.  This only stayed in for about 3-5 minutes then I rinsed it out. At this point I couldn’t belive the texture of my hair. It was soft, moisturized, and had a nice healthy sheen.

The last product I used was there Dry-Scalp Leave-In Treatment. I used this just on the scalp in place of using any heavy oils. I don’t blow dry my hair so I just gave myself a wrap to let my hair dry. The next morning I woke up to soft, shiny, manageable hair that was ready for me to flat iron or style as I pleased.

Booth rent salons from my experience seem to lack flow. I think running a booth rent based salon takes alot of control away from the actual salon owner. If you own this type of salon you are allowing your stylist to manage a business within your business. Whatever services they provide good or bad reflects the entire establishment.

Now you can be selective in who you choose to rent to try and keep things together and to provide a common experience with each stylist.

Commission based salons in my opinion operate alot smoother. The salon owner has total control over the salon and provide all of the tool, and marketing needs for the stylist to work and attract new clientele. All the money is handled through a register, scheduling is done to try and keep wait times to a minimum and staff of stylist have standard times where they are at work.

I’ve worked with many salon owners that have strong views for and against each type of operation. I know there are issues with the way taxes are handled and overall business operation of each type of setup.

I am a firm believer in professionalism and consistency with any type of service based business. There are so many salons that  lack both of these characteristics, and in my opinion I believe it’s because the salons are based on the booth rent system. I am not saying that renting booths isn’t professional; in many cases it’s just not done right.
